About Claire

Claire Buckley (Waterside Writers) Photo

Claire was inspired by her history students to design and publish learning materials and to study for an M.A. She now writes fiction, exploring such themes as the nature of betrayal, love, and survival during times of rapid social change. With the encouragement of Waterside Writers, she has succeeded in several competitions and was thrilled when her novel – set in pre-revolutionary Russia - was long-listed for the Mslexia First Novel Award. She is currently seeking an agent and working on her second novel.

Claire also writes under the name of Claire du Vernier.

At week-ends she goes for long walks and sings in choral concerts, both of which help the writing to flow, sometimes in unexpected directions.
