At night I place the pillows around me
I am nesting
Resting
Like a fledgling settled in down
Like a bird not yet flow
Age marked the milestones –
Fly from school
Fly from parents
Fly from work
Yet I never flew
I was too scared of falling, falling
So I built my nest
A beautiful trap
Too lovely to leave
For fear of finding something ugly
I wait for the dark hours
When I can nest
Ageless
Thoughtless
Safe in my down
